AM Welcomes Extra Hospice Funding
More money is on its way to hospices in Swansea West thanks to the Labour led Assembly Government.
Local AM Andrew Davies welcomed Labour Health Minister Edwina Hart's announcement of an extra £2million investment for hospices in Wales - which will double the Assembly Government's investment in children's hospices.
Welsh Labour promised the financial support for hospices in last year's Assembly Government budget - a budget that the Tories voted AGAINST. If the Tories had their way, Wales would not be benefiting from the 30% increase in funding for adult hospices or the 50% increase for children's hospices.
Swansea West AM Andrew Davies said:
"Ty Olwen provides a vital service for patients and families in Swansea West and I am delighted with this extra investment.
''I have seen at first hand what this funding means to hospices and more importantly to the patients and carers at Ty Olwen and I am particularly pleased that investment in children's hospices is going to be doubled.
''Hospices have been asking for more funding and this Labour led Assembly Government has listened and is now delivering this extra support.
''The extra money comes on top of the £10 million the Assembly Government has already provided over the last 10 years. Welsh Labour promised this money in last year's budget - a budget that the Tories voted AGAINST.
