01 Jul 2009: AM Welcomes Bus Marshals

Andrew Davies Assembly Member for Swansea West today welcomed the introduction of bus marshals to help ensure passengers know that the Quadrant Bus Station it's closing on June 14th in just over a fortnight.

The multi-million pound Welsh Assembly funded redevelopment will replace the outdated Quadrant bus terminal once the last bus service has left on June 13th.

Mr Davies, who is also the Finance and Public Services Minister in the Welsh Assembly Government said:
"I am pleased to hear that there will be bus marshals in the city centre from May 26th providing people with information about the changes to public transport over the next 15 months.

The bus marshal's are a positive step forward for the Council after years of confusion and delay by the Council's leadership in dealing with the transport system."

Adding a note of caution the City AM said:
"I have received initial complaints from constituent who are concerned that some service stops will be situated too far from the shopping centres and city centre supermarkets. I will be asking question of the Lib Dem administration whether they have fully consulted with residents, First Transport and city centre businesses about the sighting of the temporary bus stops, and whether they are in the best interests of all these groups."
