Economic Development & Transport Minister
As Minister for Economic Development & Transport in the Labour
Welsh Assembly Government, Andrew is accountable and responsible for:
Tourism; Energy; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Industrial policy;
Inward investment; the development of indigenous companies and business support;
regional and urban development; European Structural Fund programmes such as Objective
One; Demand-side employment issues (minimum wage, working time, etc).
The WDA (Welsh Development Agency), the WTB (Wales Toursit Board) and
WEFO (Wales European Funding Office) are accountable to him.
Since the Assembly Election in May 2003, Andrew is now responsible for
Wales´ transport policy, the Creative Industries and the Knowledge Exploitation Fund.
He is Wales´ eMinister with strategic co-ordinating responsibility for
ICT (Information Communication Technologies) within the Assembly Government.
