AM welcomes opening of new road

Local Swansea Labour AM Andrew Davies has welcomed the official opening of the new section of dual carriageway on the Heads of the Valleys road.

A plaque to mark the dualling of a 6 kilometre stretch of the A465 from Abergavenny to Gilwern was unveiled.

This is the second of six contracts to dual this important road between Abergavenny and Hirwaun. The first section between Tredegar to Dowlais Top was opened in November 2004 by Andrew Davies AM. The project is designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance safety on the road.

Andrew Davies AM said:

"This project is a major investment in the economic regeneration of the area and something I was proud to launch when I was Minister for Economic Development and Taransport, I welcome the continued development and transformation of the area"..
