New Green Transport
Boost For Wales
A major new Welsh Assembly Government funding package is excellent news for efforts to make Swansea West a cleaner, greener place says local AM Andrew Davies.
Andrew Davies AM welcomed the news that the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government’s Transport Grant settlement for 2008/09 had risen by 16.2% to £117.6 million, and will include new money to support the development of a new Bus station in Swansea West.
Andrew Davies AM said:
“I am delighted the Welsh Assembly Government has allocated over £18million to Swansea in the last three years. To help develop safe walking and cycling routes, improve our road infrastructure and support the rail network.
Schemes like park and ride will be good news for local people.“This goes a long way in ensuring we have a modern public transport infrastructure people can rely on and hopefully will encourage people to leave their cars at home.”
Andrew Davies AM added:
“Climate change is one of the greatest threats our planet faces. We all need to do our bit to help Wales reduce its carbon footprint.”
